Son of the Italian singer and songwriter Mimmo Locasciulli, Matteo was sensitive to music and composition from a very young age, playing various instruments like guitars, piano and double bass.

He perfected his double bass skills along with the worldwide known jazzman, Greg Cohen ( Tom Waits, David Byrne, The Rolling Stones, Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson and Elvis Costello)

After several years dedicated to live performing and artistic production, he decided to devote himself entirely to film scoring in the early 2000s.

Since then, he has worked tirelessly, on movies ( Champagne! by Nicolas Vanier , Rumba La Vie by Franck Bubosc, Le Grand Cirque by Booder ) , cartoons (Miraculous Lady Bug, The Little Prince and His Friends, Pinocchio, Seven And Me ), more than 50 documentaries and commercials ( Chanel, Gucci, Lancôme), notably through Alba Musique, a company he co-founded in 2016 and which has become a key player in film scoring in France.

In 2024 Matteo scored the soundtrack for 2 major movies, Week End In Taipei (produced by Luc Besson and directed by George Huang), and C'est le Monde a l'Envers (directed by Nicolas Vanier) and the HBO series Home Sweet Rome.

The documentary Jaques Demy, le Rose et le Noir which Matteo composed the soundtrack for, was selected at Cannes 2024 festival
